This morning I woke up, showered and shaved, then got in the car and headed to Brainerd. I have been wanting to visit the Duluth Aquarium for quite some time after many recommendations, and when I mentioned it to my friend Paige at some point, she said she'd love to go as well. I got to Brainerd around 11am, and then we drove her car the rest of the way to Duluth. The aquarium was a bit expensive, $20/person plus $10 for parking but it was certainly worth it. There were tons of native plants, animals, and fish such as muskellunge and northern pike, but also some more exotic things such as starfish, which we were able to touch. After spending a few hours as the aquarium, we went and walked out on canal park, then warmed up in the car. There was an Indian place I had been wanting to try called "Indian Palace" and so we went and got mushroom masala and garlic naan, and it was amazing. Somehow between the time we entered and left the restaurant, it had turned into whiteout weather conditions with bumper-to-bumper traffic at 15mph on I-35 and max speed of about 20mph. Neither of us really felt comfortable driving in the weather, so we called around and were able to get a cabin at Mont Du Loc resort in Wisconsin which was absolutely beautiful (the cabin was huge too- a living room, two bedrooms, kitchen, and bathroom). We stayed up and talked for a few hours before going to sleep and planning to get up early to drive home the next day.
